The Governance and Energy-Environmental Modeling area deals with the estimation of environmental and energy impacts of human activities, supporting decision-makers in companies and public institutions in the definition of policies to reduce, mitigate, and compensate for pollution and in the path to greater energy efficiency, through the modeling approach.
The team of TerrAria is coordinated by Giuseppe Maffeis, an expert in atmospheric physics with competences in the energy field; in fact, he deals with energy audits in obligated and non-obligated companies and feasibility studies for efficiency interventions. He is EME ( Energy Management Expert UNI CEI 11339:2009) civil sector SECEM Certified N°4-2015-SC/228.
The estimation of environmental impacts in terms of air quality makes it possible to assist policy makers, both at industrial and institutional level, in defining policies to reduce, mitigate and compensate air pollution on, at different spatial scales (regional, local, urban).
Within the framework of noise impact reduction or containment planning, TerrAria is involved in supporting authorities in the drafting of Strategic Noise Mapping, Noise Mapping and Action Plans.
One of TerrAria’s missions is to support the process of defining interventions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption, promoting energy efficiency and combining environmental and economic benefits.
Analyzing the consumption of public buildings, public lighting and their vehicle fleets, checking the trend over time, any anomalies, is in fact, the first step to identify possibilities for rationalization of consumption and energy efficiency of their assets.
In a context of awareness of the urgency to initiate policies and actions to counter and mitigate the effects of climate change, TerrAria supports administrations in defining their own climate scenarios in the Regional Adaptation Plans.
