<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Monitoring and progress status of the Sardinia Region Environmental Energy Plan With the collaboration of Consorzio Poliedra, TerrAria, as the lead partner of the Grouping, primarily addresses the energy-related aspects of the monitoring activities of the Sardinia Region Environmental Energy Plan. The Sardinia Region Environmental Energy Plan is the instrument through which the Regional Administration pursues energy, socio-economic, and environmental objectives up to 2020. The Plan was approved by Resolution No. 45\/40 of 2.08.2016. In compliance with Legislative Decree 152\/2006 and subsequent amendments and additions, two Monitoring Reports of the Plan have been prepared: one relating to 2017, published in early 2019, and one relating to 2018, published in early 2020. These reports describe the progress status of the Plan and assess its effects from both an energy and environmental sustainability perspective. In addition, the Regional Energy Balance (REB) has been updated. Documents related to the Plan and the Monitoring Reports are available on the website: http:\/\/www.regione.sardegna.it\/sardegnaenergia\/pears\/ The actions promoted by the Plan are numerous and cover multiple aspects related to energy production, distribution, and consumption. These include funding calls aimed at financing interventions for energy efficiency, the development of renewable energy sources, and the deployment of smart grids, both in the public sector and in the private business sector. Numerous pilot and experimental projects, including European ones, have also been launched, particularly within Sardinian universities and highly virtuous municipalities. The actions also address research and innovation in the energy sector, the development of electric mobility, and the initiation of LNG-based methane infrastructure development in Sardinia. Finally, several coordination and governance activities have been initiated, along with the development of regulatory and planning instruments in the energy field. The main results emerging from the analyses carried out for the drafting of the Regional Energy Balance have made it possible to describe the evolution of Sardinia\u2019s energy system, historically characterized by significant inflows and outflows of raw materials and energy, which has long positioned Sardinia as an energy hub. In summary, the outcomes of the III Monitoring Report of the Plan highlight the following trends between 2013 and 2020: a 7% reduction in electricity consumption, a 24% reduction in consumption in the heat macro-sector, an 8% increase in transport-related consumption. Despite the significant reduction in emissions already achieved (-31% compared to 1990), the Plan\u2019s target of a 50% emissions reduction by 2030 appears achievable by focusing on reducing emissions from the transformation sector and, in particular, by lowering the emission factor associated with electricity generation, where action can be taken in line with ongoing national decarbonization policies. The analysis conducted to quantify the achievement of the Plan\u2019s objectives and its sustainability targets for 2030, which include a 50% reduction in CO\u2082 emissions associated with Sardinia\u2019s consumption compared to 1990 levels, confirms a continuously decreasing trend approaching the target. This is mainly due to reductions recorded in the transformation sector and thermal consumption, despite the ongoing increase in emissions in the transport macro-sector. As of 2018, emissions reduction compared to 1990 stands at 21.5%; considering the estimated reduction in 2013 (-16.2% compared to 1990), this corresponds to a 5.3% reduction over five years, equal to an average annual decrease of 1.1%. THE ROLE OF TERRARIA In particular, TerrAria acts as Project Manager and liaison with the Department of Industry and has carried out the following activities: Data collection and analysis for the preparation of the Regional Energy Balance, the Regional Emissions Balance, with particular focus on biomass, and monitoring of the Plan\u2019s emission reduction targets. Collection and analysis of relevant environmental information and data required for the development and population of Process and Context Indicators for monitoring the Plan. Preparation of the Annual Monitoring Reports of the Plan. Support in drafting the Guidelines for the development of biomass plants in Sardinia. Support in the collection and systematization of data from Municipal SEAPs and monitoring of municipal energy consumption and actions developed within SEAPs. Support in the development of specific analyses on methane infrastructure development in Sardinia. In-depth focus: collection and analysis of socio-economic data related to the regional context and their correlation with energy data, and development of socio-economic scenarios concerning the effects of the Plan\u2019s implementation; data collection and specific analyses at regional and territorial level on energy, with particular reference to energy districts and smart grids; data collection and specific techno-economic analyses on energy use in transport, with particular focus on electricity, natural gas, and hydrogen. Data collection and analysis related to the use of biomass for energy purposes.
